Frequently Asked Questions

Can dual monitors increase my productivity?

Productivity depends on the individual, but dual monitors do help make doing your work easier. Dual Monitors allows you to have 2 applications displaying at the same time, very useful if you are working on creating documents, photos, designs etc. Online surveys say 30% is the magic number of increased productivity for an individual, you will have to see for yourself, but one thing for sure when you go with multiple monitors you never go back to one.

My applications are running slow. What should I do?

There are many different possibilities that could cause a slow down to your PC. If your PC was once fast and now is slow the first thing you should do is update your virus protection and run a full system scan to rule out any viruses or malware. Another option is to run Task Manager (CTRL + Alt + Del, click Task Manager). In the task manager you can see which applications are taking up the most memory or system CPU and stop those services from running.

Your next move is to run a system cleanup using a tool such as CCleaner and then running a defragmentation on your hard drive, this will help free up space and reorganize the data on the hard drive for optimal performance. It is recommended to perform these routine maintenance steps on a monthly basis to keep performance up. A well maintained computer will rarely show signs of slowing down.

What are the advantages of having a server at my business?

It depends on what you are going to use the server for and the importance of the data content to your business. A Windows server is designed to help you protect your data, do more with less and connect with customers. I accidentally installed a virus on my PC, how can I remove it?

Most new Antivirus programs have built in filters to quarantine or delete the worst virus out there. On occasion a new infestation will strike and your software is left un-patched and vulnerable. If this is the case, immediately disconnect the network cable so you do not infect others on your network. Using a non-infected PC, research the virus that has infected your PC. A good place to start is with your current virus protection software manufacturer, such as TrendMicro.com, McAfee.com, or Symantec.com to name a few.

I am not receiving emails from certain email addresses. Is my company on a Black List?

First you must understand what a Black List is. A black list is a database of internet protocol addresses (IPs) collected for the purpose of identifying the senders of spam. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and others subscribe to these Black Lists to enable them to block spam sent to their customers. Which means their customers could be your customers.

The internet offers many Black List Search engines to check the IP of your company. Try using this following link. It will test to see if your company is on a Black List. If a red circle appears in any of the DNS based Anti-Spam databases; please contact the site administrator to process the removal.
